What a Wonderful World.

Sometimes I drive with my ipod on shuffle; shuffling every song on my ipod like it's one giant playlist. I like the randomness of not knowing what in the world is going to come up next. I know, I live on the wild side. As I drove to work this afternoon the charming, Louis Armstrong began to serenade me...

"I see trees of green,
red roses too.
I see them bloom, for me and you.
 And I think to myself...
What a wonderful world."

You know the song. Suddenly I found myself reflecting on all of the little wonderful things around me that I don't always take notice of. I was taken back a bit by how amazingly blessed I am, and we all are. I have an incredible family, great friends, a job that I love, a healthy body, healthy food to eat, a warm bed, a college education, a free country to live in...etc. etc. etc.
It was such a great reminder to me that the happiness in our lives is all about our perspective. We choose to see life full of positive experiences and little joys, or filled with negativity. Such a big part of health is our own well being and happiness, and if we can't figure out a way to put things in positive perspective we will always be searching for some sort of happiness we can't fulfill.

So, take a little time out of your day and think to yourself...What a wonderful world. :)

Now tell me, what things to you notice that make you remember how great life is? Cause it really is great.

  5. Such a good reminder. Thanks! I've been really feeling grateful for my husband lately. He does so much without complaining and I'm kind of a whiner.

  7. You are right, life is what you make of it! For me it's the little things that I get excited about, which can be so simple yet they still brighten my day. Lately I've been thankful for my family, friends, boyfriend, and running.
I remember running on the bike path about a year ago and running past a man in a wheelchair with his kids, and in that moment I realized that I was so lucky just to be able to run! Yet I also thought of the man who still hadn't given up and was out while his kids were rollerblading- I'm sure he was having a great time as well. It's all about perspective.

  8. Today I went for a run in the sand along the ocean and then I whipped off my shoes and continued running barefoot -- the feeling of the ocean on my feet and the views of the cliffs and the blue skies made me realize WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD this is. :)
